You can do it yourself.

Bad housemate experiences always come from ineffective, inefficient or non-existent selection processes. Really. You can’t simply start reading house share ads and calling people up. You need a process to follow with clear stages and steps. 

Sharing Housing 101 teaches a proven process that will help you say “yes” to a good housemate and “no” to someone who doesn’t fit. In less than an hour you’ll develop confidence in your own ability to discern the difference.

Sharing Housing 101 will teach you our process for finding and selecting a person you can live with. In ten short videos, (3-6 minutes apiece) you will learn how to clarify your requirements, put together an announcement about what you are looking for, and follow a sequence of steps to learn if there is a fit between you and the potential housemate. The course includes downloadable worksheets and transcripts.

This course is unique, there’s nothing like it on the web or in real life. What is it worth? We’re asking you to pay from your heart. It’s an investment in your comfort and peace of mind. It’s an investment that will pay off the very first month you are living with a compatible housemate and for months and years afterwards.

It’s possible that you aren’t ready right now to jump into shared housing. Taking the course is one way to explore the idea and understand what actions would actually be required when you are ready. Having a road map may help you figure out when you want to take action.

As a senior who’s embarking on an adventure to find and live with a compatible home-mate, I needed all the help I can get. [The class] guided us through the complex process of finding the right someone to share with and then learning to live with them. The course is well-thought out and provided a proven framework for finding a home mate. It inspired confidence and motivation for me to start the process.

After taking your class last spring I went into searching for a new home-mate much more confident. A friend referred someone they knew who needed to move ASAP. We spoke multiple times and I asked all the targeted questions already knowing what I was looking for in a home-mate. She was different than what I thought I might gravitate towards, but no red flags and I listened to my gut.

I’m thrilled to share that she’s been a very amazing roommate!

She’s about fifteen years older than me, but young spirit. We find ourselves chit chatting about our lessons in life, astrology, experiences of divorce and how to get back into dating over glasses of wine or cooking on the weekends. We already introduced ourselves to each other’s good friends. Some adjustment pains, as expected, but we are communicating and open. So, all in all a success so far!!

Cost

What it is worth to you. Seriously. We are asking you to “pay from the heart.” 

What’s the right price for this course?  We don’t know. The course is unique. There’s nothing like it available anywhere on the web or in person. That would make it very valuable. On the other hand many people start considering shared housing because they are feeling so pinched by their economic reality.

We are asking you to pay what you feel is a fair price for you. Please check in with your heart, consider how you use your income. This is a genuine offer. So much of what we do at Sharing Housing is driven by a sense of mission and ministry.

We want you to be able to take the course.

Being Sustainable

That said we are not offering Sharing Housing 101 for free. We also need to pay our bills. We think that somewhere between $50 and $75 is appropriate. But we don’t want you to not take the course if you can’t do that. We are putting a bottom limit at $25. And if you can’t afford that please be in touch.

So please, pay what it is worth to you and what signifies a commitment from you to show up and do the work to make it the best learning experience you can.
